SAN FRANCISCO Feb. 11 morning news, the Washington Post Co. next month will launch a free news aggregation site Trove, to provide readers with personalized reading experience.
Trove allows the user to choose the theme, create their own news sites. The site can be used to read the news according to user reports and personal interests, more than 10,000 news sources from the selected articles and delivered to a personalized page. The Washington Post Company will introduce Trove of iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry applications.
The Washington Post Company will provide the site into 5 million to 10 million U.S. dollars. The executives said the immediate goal is to build an audience, rather than revenue.
Like many other newspaper companies, as more and more readers and advertisers turn to the Internet, The Washington Post Company is also faced with the plight of declining revenue. To this end, these companies are exploring various ways to get more revenue from online users.
